Props anf filming - 27-28

We didnt have important props for this movie; the costume for this movie wasnt generally wasnt that important. We decided our main character should have a rough beard. The beard does play as an important feature because it displays a sense of lonliness and shows a character who isnt exactly social and living in quite a remote area.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A ROUGH BEARD...

CAST - 26

The Protagonist of our film is called Troy Stone. He is a young man around 20 years old. He has special abilities, which are dormant at the moment. Joseph and I decided to cast me as this character, because I can act like a character who is keeps everything to himself and who has quite a loner attitude.

The Second character in this opening is called Garth. He is a 16 year old teenager who helps Troy in his boat house. He is a local in the area. We decided to cast Joseph as Garth for the opening scene. Few reasons are he looks 16 and he can act like a average 16 year old.

Task 24-25

RISK ASSESSMENT

Might Get Hypothermia because Scotland is really really cold.
There might be a tsunami in the beach so we could drown.
Might fall of a cliff somewhere.

There aren't many risk which are likely to happen during this move.

FILM BASICS

The story is about a man who had supernatural powers in his life and is dormant now; he has moved away from any major cities into a quiet, remorse and lonely village near the coast.

MUSIC ! - 21

Music. I think we should use a soundtrack for our film. i think for the opening we could use a section of the song "The Bridge Of Khazad Dum" from The Lord Of The Rings and The Man Of Steel Trailer. Here is a clip of the music we want to use... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7R3oESCgQw.

Since we are only doing the opening for the movie intro we could either use that or the soudntrack of the "Deliver Hope" trailer of the Halo franchise. Here is a link to the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7R3oESCgQw.

I think these pieces of music would work quite well with our intro. I don't think we are going to have lively music in this movie because it is quite a "dark contrast" movie. I think as the intro finishes there should we music leading onto the scene where the main character "Troy" is introduced.

Storyboard - 20

This Screenshot for the storyboard introduces the main character Troy Stone.

This Screenshot shows Troy regaining his powers.

This Screenshot shows Troy Talking to his old friend Victor Curry.

Todorov's narrative theory - 19

I think Todorov  <---- this guy's theory is a good example of the narrative theory we would like to use in our film. There is a diagram below showing how Todorov's theory works.

This works quite well with our plot. If you can relate this to our story arc that was posted before, and you can compare the "Acts" to this Theory.

Story Arc - 18

Our Basic Story for our film is based around a character called Troy stone. Troy stone struggles with his daily life, a small time fisher off the coast. you don't understand why a young man like him is wasting his life in the middle of nowhere. you later learn that he possessed great powers that was dormant until one night; where he regains them. He then gets a visit from his old friend "Victor Curry"; who knows his "secret". Troy uses his powers to steal and to commit other small crimes. He is misguided and gaining back his powers takes over him and changes him completely; his agenda are completely wrong. At the end of the film he gains control over his powers and his personality; with the help of his friends he decides to help people with his powers. If we divide this plot into acts it would be.

Act 1
His daily life and the opening of the movie.

Act 2
Regaining his dormant powers. OMG HE HAS SUPER POWERS!!!!

Act 3
Meeting "ghosts" from his past

Act 4
Using his powers for bad intentions

Act 5
Using his powers to help people

The story sounds a bit bland and the powers might seem hard to record in a video; but with the help of Adobe After Effects it is possible.

Film Industries - 16

Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc is an American producer of film, television, and music entertainment.

I think this industry would be the ideal distributor to publish our film because; WB is one of the best production companies out there for a lot of different types of entertainment. WB have distributed a lot of films including the Batman trilogy, Inception and lots of other great movies.
But the production companies I want producing my films are Syncopy and Legendary pictures.

The reason i want Syncopy producing my films are because this company has produced lots of movies with the type of style i want. this company is co-owned by Christopher Nolan who i think of as one of the greatest people in the film industries. Having this company produce our film would be ideal.

I also want legendary pictures to co-produce my film because they co-produce with Warner Bros and they have co-produced lots and lots of good movies including Batman trilogy, The town, Man of steel and lots of other great movies.

Pearl & Dean - 15

From all of my research in Pearl & Dean present that; to categorize a type of audience; you need to know everythign abotu yoru audience, from Age to Gender. I would say our film would fit in 15+ category because our movie focuses on a younger independent character, which most teens could relatye to. Even though the character isnt a teen ( around 20's); the 15+ audience memebers would enjoy it more than the family and art houses audiences. i would say our film could categorize from 15 up to 30 years of age because it doesnt only focus on a teen but just a young man; which adults can also relate to. Pearl & Dean's business section is very helpful to identify a certain type of audience class.

UK Tribes - 14

UK Tribes describe the best type of audience as Townies. Apparently UK Tribes describes Townies as " mainstream kids"; this is the largest tribe according to UK tribes. I think this stereotype is perfect for our movie because they are also described as Viva The ordinaries; which shows that this stereotype is just casual people.

I think the person on this picture displays a casual person around the world. So i picture townies as just anyone around town. So i think this movie is basically suitable for most people.

Audience Research - 13

I think one of the main factors that affect the type of movies people want to watch is the advertisements in you tube, t.v or even the trailers in the cinemas. If these adverts are attractive people will consider watching it. But even though people watch these movies; how do they identify if it is good or not. For example the opening of a movie is quite long; how do you keep an audience attracted to it. A good opening sequence would attract the audience's attention, and make them think about it. for example the opening to Dark Knight Rises is quite interesting because it is quite abstract and dark. Types of movie opening im not attracted to are, where all you can see the credits and nothing is happening during it; for example the "Stars Wars" introduction is quite dull to be honest. It is repetitive and nothing interesting happens; all there is, is writing fading away. The music is also a very important feature in the opening credits for example some of my favorite ones are Rocky and Superman soundtracks because these give it a very memorable feature to the movie.

Herbst Breakdown - 11

1. The first screenshot is an over the shoulder shot over a doll and an extreme long shot focusing on a couple holding each other. this could be a part of the plot.

2. The second screenshot is a low angle long shot shot focusing on a woman waving towards a train.

3. the third screenshot is an extreme long shot focsusing on a woman (could be the same one from screenshot 2) looking outside a window.

4. This screen shot is a long shot focusing on a soilder.

5. This introduces title of the movie Herbst.

6. Another long shot focusing on a soilder with binoculars. The weather changes which shows time has passed by.

7. A high angeled long shot focused on the same soilder.

8. The next screenshot  is a long shot focusing on a family walking on grass.

9.This last screenshot looks at funeral through an extreme long shot.

Herbst

I havent watched this movie, but from analysing the screenshot I think there is a couple during a war ( probably WWI) and then the man has to go to war show the woman says goodbye in a train station. The third screenshot shows a woman looking outside a window waiting. Then the following 4 screenshots show the man in war. the next screenshot just shows a family; and the last screenshot displays a funeral which is probably the man who was probably in the war, who was KIA.

SE7EN INTRO ANALYSIS - 10

The opening works as a introduction for the film in that it  introduces  the  character  of the  killer  John  Doe  and gives clues at the story. In  2minutes, the Director set the tone and atmosphere of  Se7en  as  the  disturbing  and  dreadful  experience that it is. Se7en is a psychological thriller with horror and neo-noir elements that eventually makes the film unique and unforgettable. The opening sequence is a collection of around 60-70 extreme close-ups that works like a montage. This serves to intrigue the audience with tiny detail and, to distance the audience by not showing any wider shots that would give a better view of characters.
The used is a remix of Nine InchNails Closer . Nine Inch Nails is an American industrial rock project which is associated with dark and gruesome imagery. The name of the band gives it a very gothic brutal image in your mind, which also gives hints towards the genre. The music is gritty and reflects the overall disturbing tone of the film.

MOVIE GENRES - 8

Independent    Adventure     Drama     Action

List of movies within these genres

The Perfect Storm

Into The Wild

The Beach

Cast Away

Man of Steel (Trailer)

Smallville (TV)

Man of Steel trailer has the kind of effect and style of filming we are trying to work with. Despite the fantasy section of Smallville it is quite adventurous and has a lot of drama in it which works with our choices of genre. All of these movies have very good examples of our genres that we have chosen for our movie.

Juno Remake Task - 7

JUNO REMAKE :)

We did not get to show many camera angles and technique in this video because this video was made on a short notice and we didn't have a camera man or extra actors. We decided to play the 4 characters between us. I think it has a comedic scheme in this video because of  the "Multi Roles". This isn't made perfectly because of the lack of time, but we did finish it up ! Here is the original video as a reference. SO THANKS :)

INFO ABOUT OUR FILM PITCH - 6

So we decided to pick one of our 4 opitions for our film pitch. The other three options were two different styles of thrillers and a comedy. We picked an independent style pitch which focuses on a young protaganist . We had a few great ideas that we expanded into this.

SO THANKS :)

Jelly Baby - 5

BATMAN THE JELLY RISES

We were given a task to make a 5 frame media video only using jelly babies and plasticine. So we decided to make a comedy/parody video on the latest Batman, which is The Dark knight rises. It was quite a bit of fun and we uploaded the video onto youtube.

I know the batman props and costumes or even the animation arent as good as..

THIS!

Or even this...

or this...

BUT

Its a LOT LOT better than this !

and THIS!

I drew a storyboard and for some reason this picture has Joseph's creepy face on it.

SO THANKS  BRO !!!

VIDEO :) !!!! (The chronicles of getting lost) - 4

SO THIS VIDEO DIDNT UPLOAD PROPERLY!!!!!

so i got a work slip...and so on
But the main point is that the video did finally upload, after waiting and waiting for soooo long!

We basically got a sheet with 4 options for our story. We picked the subject of a character " getting lost" and turned it into quite a comedic piece. We used a lot of different camera angle and techniques; for example a "long hold" ( which is just the camera holding the position as the actor hold's their pose slightly). We added a dance at the end just to refer to "slumdog millionare's" random dance at the end of the movie.

AND HERES THE AMAZING STORYBOARD !!!!

Friday, 28 September 2012

Hola !

Here is our new OFFICIAL LOGO! I spent a while making it on Photoshop. I had a lot of ideas and tried different styles; but this font ( Liffey) made the text look attractive and eye catching, so we used this one. Shows the difference between a "good" media blog and a "GREAT" media blog! just kidding

i got the stock for the background from http://www.officialpsds.com/  . They have a lot of good stocks and ready made psd files. So any other media students can try making their own logos !

Media Blog !!!

Well, yea so Joseph and I both made our own blogs and a "Prelim" video. We were given titles and e.t.c to work around but we made a quite comedic video with Alice Kirkness in it; we will put it up soon! So the main point of this blog is to post all of the video Joseph and I even made for our AS media projects or any video we make for fun. We will try to create a lot of interesting concepts in our video and we will try to be original unless we are making a parody video.

Which would probably include this guy!

or maybe

Him.

Or even

HIM! ( Daniel Craig)

So keep a heads up for anything new :)

YO

HEY GUYS :)
